Development of the WWF Green Academy e-learning programme

How can sustainability knowledge be conveyed in a corporate setting in such a way that it feels like a genuine experience rather than compulsory training?

The Green Academy, developed in collaboration with WWF and the U8 team, provides the answer. The corporate sustainability e-learning programme was created with the involvement of Progressive’s in-house production and creative team: featuring video modules filmed in our own studio, a unique visual style, animations and communication materials tailored to the platform.

Services: Production
Industry: Public sector and nonprofit
Client: Progressive partner

The challenge

While ESG expectations grow, sustainable operations are becoming increasingly important for companies; however, these efforts are often difficult for stakeholders to see and understand. Alongside market and regulatory pressures, there is also a growing demand from employees for companies to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability in a genuine and credible manner.

The aim of the project was to bring the topics of climate change, water management, biodiversity and food production closer to employees in an easily accessible, interactive and playful format.

The approach

The development of Green Academy was based on collaboration across several specialist fields. Experts from WWF provided the specialist content, the U8 team handled the gamification logic and platform development, whilst Progressive contributed to the programme concept, content adaptation, creative implementation, campaign materials and video production.

The footage for the four educational modules was filmed in Progressive’s own in-house studio. The production team was responsible for preparing the video content for production, managing the shoot, developing the visual style and coordinating post-production. The design of the modules, the graphic materials and the animations also showcase the work of Progressive’s creative team.

The system was not built as a traditional e-learning platform, but as an experience-based corporate knowledge programme. The video content is complemented by quizzes, tasks, challenges, point-scoring, badges and the opportunity to earn certificates, allowing participants to engage with the subject matter not as passive viewers but as active participants.

The platform can be flexibly integrated into a corporate environment: it is available on a custom domain or subdomain, can be tailored to the corporate brand, and can be incorporated into existing sustainability programmes or internal communication campaigns.

The results

The Green Academy has resulted in the creation of a corporate sustainability e-learning programme that simultaneously provides professional knowledge, engages employees and supports companies’ sustainability communications.

The programme provides employees with clear and practical answers to what environmental awareness means in everyday life. For companies, it creates an opportunity to present their own sustainability efforts in a more credible and people-oriented way.

The Green Academy is also a valuable tool from an employer branding perspective: it helps bring employees closer to the company’s sustainability goals, whilst the training and its results can also be featured in the company’s ESG, CSRD and GRI reports.
