CIB END OF YEAR GALA DINNER
A Japanese masterpiece
- Brand Experience
- Event Design
When coming up with the idea for this event, with all the different stuff going on at the end of the year, the biggest challenge was to avoid that “yet another Christmas party” feeling. In other words, we wanted to stand out from all the other similar kinds of events and provide a special and memorable experience for the employees and clients of CIB. We also wanted to offer them an opportunity to nurture their relationships.
So our basic premise was that we didn’t want to invite the guests to the usual end of year party. Instead, we wanted to create a kind of farewell party to 2018. We also wanted a theme that was related to endings and beginnings and ensure that in visual terms orange, the brand colour of CIB, took centre stage.
This is why we were inspired by Japanese culture, where there is a huge emphasis on human relationships and mutual regard and respect. The Japanese close out the old year with a joyful “forget the year party”, the Bonenkai Party, an informal event that helps to forge deeper relationships. According to Japanese tradition, orange is an important colour on this date, as it represents the colour of the first sunrise.
